Alma Resource Sharing Guide

This guide explains the various components of FLVC's current resource sharing processes also known as UBorrow.

Different Types of Resource Sharing

  • UBorrow
    • FL40 sharing of print material, and media on an opt-in basis.
    • Shipping costs covered by FLVC via TBLC Delivery
  • Traditional ILL 
    • Back-end system is institution dependent (ILLiad, Tipasa, Worldshare ILL)
    • Some institutions use ILS to track loans:
      • Borrowing - create a temp item record for incoming item and lend to patron
      • Lending - create library patron records to lend items to
    • Shipping costs covered by library if to/from library non TBLC Delivery participant
  • FLINShareIT
    • Statewide with participating public libraries, private academic libraries & some FL40 libraries
    • Print material 
    • Alma integration currently available for Borrowing
    • Alma integration for Lending in progress
    • Shipping costs covered by FLVC via TBLC Delivery
  • RapidILL
    • FL40 University Libraries in use
    • FL40 College Libraries, implementation to start late Jan 2024
    • E-articles, Book chapters, Print journals
    • Borrowing and Lending requests available
  • Resource Sharing with Consortia outside of FL via Alma Peer-to-Peer
    • UCF Pilot site
    • Setup in Progress
