RapidILL FAQ

RapidILL FAQ

How many times can a patron login to see their requested article?

This is set to 5 for all institutions.

Does the patron know how many logins they have?

The maximum number of logins is shown on the letter sent to the patron as well as on the request in their My Library card.

Can the patron download the article?

Yes, the article can be downloaded by the patron when they log in to view it.

If the patron clicks the link more than five times, will library staff be able to get the article for the patron?

Yes, if you have the article name you can log in to the RapidILL module to view and download the article for them. The article is retained for 30 days. After the 30 days the patron will need to resubmit their request.

The RapidILL request link says UBorrow Request, can this verbiage be changed?

Yes, this can be changed. RapidILL and UBorrow use the same form to create requests so verbiage that includes them both might be best to reduce confusion. Please put in a help desk ticket with the change you would like to make.

Can we remove the Pick Up Location from article request forms?

Unfortunately, since RapidILL and UBorrow share the same form, and the Pick Up Location is required for UBorrow, it isn't possible to remove this just for article requests. Since the request is for digital material, there is no impact for choosing any pick up location.

Is it possible to change the text of the Document Delivery Notification Letter that goes out to patrons?

Definitely, please put in a help desk ticket with the changes you would like to make.

If the patron can't find or did not receive the Document Delivery Notification Letter, how can staff help them?

Staff can help by:

  • Resending the letter:

    • Open the patron's record and click the Attachments tab

    • Find the letter

    • Click the ellipse and choose Resend

  • Direct the patron to view the request in Primo by logging in to their My Library Card

  • Login to the RapidILL module within 30 days to download and send the patron the article.
