Alma Resource Sharing Guide

This guide explains the various components of FLVC's current resource sharing processes also known as UBorrow.

UBorrow Winter Closure

UBorrow Winter Closure 2023

Most, if not all the libraries will be closed for some portion of December/early January for winter break. In order for patrons to continue to request titles over the break and prevent the requests from expiring due to long closures or reduced staff as well as to prevent libraries from shipping items to you during your closures, please see the following:

  • FLVC will not be inactivating lending libraries during this time as that will prevent patrons from placing requests on titles. There is no need to submit a ticket to inform us of your ILL office closing dates.
  • To prevent items being shipped to you while you are closed, according to TBLC's Manual : Please contact tblcdelivery@tblc.org at least one week in advance of your library's closure. TBLC will remove your library from the address book in FedEx two to three days prior to your closure to ensure that packages are not scheduled for delivery during that time. They also recommend notifying your delivery driver.
  • FLVC will be putting up a banner in each institution's Primo VE on December 8th that states: "UBorrow requests are being accepted but delivery may be delayed until after 1/3/2024".  This banner will stay up through Jan 2, 2024.
  • FLVC will turn off the job that automatically expires UBorrow requests after four days on December 8th. All shipping should halt until Jan. 3rd.
  • FLVC will turn back on the UBorrow expiration job on January 8th. This will give each institution time to fill requests made over the holidays. Requests that cannot be filled will expire on the 9th to move to the next lender in the rota.

UBorrow Hurricane and Maintenance Closures

UBorrow Hurricane and Maintenance Closures

Hurricane Closures

When FLVC receives a ticket from your institution that there will be a closure due to a hurricane for more than one day, FLVC will update the institution's hours and will inactivate UBorrow lending for the closure dates. If, due to logistical concerns, your institution will not be able to process lending requests for longer than your institution's closures dates, please submit a ticket to help@flvc.org with the dates and campuses/libraries (if applicable) you would like to inactivate.

Maintenance Closures

If, for any reason, your institution will not be able to process UBorrow lending requests for any length of time, please submit a ticket to help@flvc.org with the dates and campuses/libraries (if applicable) you would like to inactivate.
