Patrons can request a renewal on their UBorrow loans within 7 days of the due date. Renewals can be initiated by the patron via Primo VE, by circulation staff via the Patron Services screen, or interlibrary loan staff through the Borrowing Requests screen.
Users can request renewals on their UBorrow loans in Primo VE by going to the Loans tab of My Library Card and clicking Renew.
Circulation staff can assist patrons with renewing their UBorrow books from the Loans tab of the Patron Services screen by selecting the loan(s) and clicking on Renew Selected.
Interlibrary loan staff can renew UBorrow books from the Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests screen by clicking on the ellipsis and selected Request renew.
On the Request renew screen, interlibrary loan staff must manually enter in a value for the Due Date. The UBorrow policy allows for an additional 30 day renewal period beyond the patron’s original due date. Please refrain from entering Internal or Patron notes on this screen as these notes will display as Active Internal notes on the Lending request which could cause confusion for the Lending Institution:
If the due date for the UBorrow Loan is more than 7 days away, the user will not be given the option to renew in Primo VE:
Similarly, circulation staff will not be able to renew from the Patron Services screen:
Technically, interlibrary loan staff may renew UBorrow loans at any time via the Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests screen. However, it is strongly recommended to wait until the appropriate renewal period before initiating the renewal.
If a patron at the lending institution places a local request on a UBorrow book, the due date at the Lending and Borrowing Institution will be shortened to 30 days:
Additionally, the Request Status will indicate that the item has been recalled:
Once the UBorrow loan has been recalled, patrons will no longer be able to renew the loan:
Please note: Not all institutions are currently configured to allow local hold requests on materials shipped via UBorrow. Instead, your patrons may be given the option to place their own UBorrow requests on these titles. To verify and/or adjust how requests are handled at your institution in these instances please contact FLVC at help@flvc.org.
If the renewal request is placed within 7 days of the due date and there are no local hold requests on the item, the loan will be renewed without any additional mediation from the Borrowing or Lending institution. The Request Status and Due date will automatically be updated on the borrowing request in Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests screen at the Borrowing Institution:
The Request Status and Due Date will also automatically be updated on the lending request in the Resource Sharing Lending Request Task List at the Lending Institution:
