The Basics Regarding ILS Coordinators

During the implementation of Alma and Primo in 2020, FLVC asked each institution to designate one person as the ILS Coordinator for the project. This individual acted as the single point of access for the institution and would represent all branch libraries/campuses for the duration of the project. This person would also lead any local teams regarding the implementation of the new system.

After Implementation, FLVC saw value in retaining the ILS Coordinator position for various reasons, including:

  • To assist with ongoing issues following implementation
  • To be the main contact for communications regarding Alma/Primo
  • To identify a contact person(s) for specific area issues, e.g. IT or other campus contacts.
  • To route requests for feedback/surveys to the appropriate contacts.
  • To keep FLVC aware of upcoming major projects, e.g. funding for new SIP2 equipment (Selfchecks, RFID gates), major service disruptions at the library, e.g. unexpected closure or service disruption, staff turnover, major upcoming projects
  • To stay abreast of new features/maintenance schedules in Alma/Primo VE & FLVC updates, which requires that they be subscribed to various FLVC and, possibly ExLibris listservs, such as:

Alma system status, maintenance announcements (also on Alma Login page)

  • Routine Maintenance, once monthly on Sunday, between 3 & 4am, Helpdesk sends message to Libraries-All, Primo & Digital Initiatives
