Guidelines for Alma Resources Configuration Menu Options
The options under this menu are usually governed by one or more of the following roles:
- Catalog Administrator
- Repository Administrator
- General Systems Administrator
- Deposit Manager - Digital assets deposits
Best Practices
- Become thoroughly familiar with documentation explaing the configuration options and/or tables
- Make backups of the tables before making changes
- Follow FLVC advice with regards to local vs. FLVC changes
- Whenever possible Test in the sandbox to review changes to Alma behavior or interface display
- Keep in mind whether your changes might affect other institutions
Resources Configuration menu Options is divided into six sections covering various areas of configuration:

*NOTE*: The 'Resources' Configuration menu only appears when the Institution is selected for configuration.
- Controlling what indexes appear in Simple and Advance searches
- Customizing index labels that appear in the list of indexes
- Configuring of external search resources
- Determine whether thumbnails appear in result screen in Alma search
- Determine local fields that display in Network Zone records
- Metadata Configuration – FLVC
- Controlled vocabulary
- Author number generation
- BIB record merge behavior – FLVC
- MARC Slim configuration
- MARC21 browse BIB headings and Subjects
- Map Holdings data to BIB records for OCLC DataSync workflow - Consult with FLVC
- Map Library and Collection codes to OCLC symbols for OCLC DataSync workflow - Consult with FLVC

- Define Import Profile Originating System to select from dropdown list in profiles
- Configure Remote Digital Repositories
- Controls the configuration of Digital Desposits
*NOTE*: Requires Deposits Manager or General Systems Administrator role. Functionality associated with Alma Digital and general digital assets management in Alma.
- Configure the Other Settings mapping table – various system settings
- Configure various other codes, functions and tables pertinent to inventory setup, jobs, behavior or use.
