Islandora 2.0 is different from Islandora 7. A Drupal website, Islandora 2.0 stores and treats inputted content as a node, a kind of content entity which is any piece of individual content, and can also include a page, article, forum topic, or a blog entry. Also, in 2.0, there is no Collection policy like in Islandora 7, where you would choose a Content Model.
In Islandora 2.0, there are 3 content types: Article, Basic page, and Repository Item. Repository Item is the one that will be used the most.
As you are adding an item, you choose a Model to determine how the item is going to view.
The sections below provide a reference for the types of content that can be ingested into Islandora and the presentation of the content ingested into Islandora, as provided by Islandora Models. I put in (parentheses) and in bold what Model in Islandora 2.0 to choose.
Islandora 2.0 uses the PDF.js viewer. PDF.js viewer is built with HTML5. The PDF viewer has the similar functionality as in Islandora 7. The PDF has a search function and zoom in and out function. It has a present mode, download icon and print icon.
The Media information for the PDF is found by clicking on Media for the PDF. The media created is the Original File (PDF), the Extracted Text (for the OCR) and the FITS file (xml file)
Islandora 2.0 uses OpenSeadragon for the book viewer the same as the newspaper. The viewer is different then what was used in the Islandora 7 books and newspapers.
The Media information for a book page is found by clicking on Media for the book page. The media created is the Original File (JPG, JP2 or TIFF), the Extracted Text (for the OCR) and the FITS file (xml file), a Thumbnail Image jpg, and a Service file (created from the Original and appears on the site).
The Media information for the newspaper page, is found by clicking on Media for the newspaper page. The media created is the Original File (JP2), the FITS file (xml file), the Service File (the jpg that is shown) and the Thumbnail Image (small jpg).

The Audio file types accepted:
mp3, wav and aac.
Islandora Audio is used to play the audio. The player has a Play/ Pause button plus a volume control.
The Media information for the Audio is found by clicking on Media for the Audio. The media created is the Original File (Audio file), the FITS file (xml file) and Service File.mp3 (this file is the one that is used for the player)
Example of an Audio: https://sandbox-isle.flvc.org/islandora/kalimba
The Image file types accepted:
png, gif and jpeg (.jpg, .jpeg)
The image uses Open Seadragon viewer. It has zoom-in and zoom-out controls. It has a full screen button. It has a clockwise and counterclockwise button to flip the image around.
The Media information for the Image is found by clicking on Media for the Image. The media created is the Original File (jpeg file), the FITS file (xml file) , a Service File.mp3 (this file is the one that is used for the Open Seadragon viewer) and a Thumbnail Image.

Large image is not a content type like in Islandora 7. Instead you are using Image Model like the Image type above but choose File from Media types.
To add a media to a large image, select File. The File types accepted:
JPEG2000 (.jp2, .jpg2), TIFF (.tiff, .tif)
Large image objects are displayed in an interactive viewfinder (OpenSeadragon) similar to Islandora 7.
The media information for the image is found by clicking on the Media for the image. The media created is the Original File (tiff), the FITS file (xml), a Service File (jpeg), an extracted text file for full text indexing, and a Thumbnail image.

The Binary Model allows users to load “download only” files. The Binary Model does not render the content file object itself but enables users to view the object’s metadata and download the object.
The Binary file types accepted:
txt, rtf, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, odf, odg, odp, ods, odt, fodt, fods, fodp fodg key numbers pages.
The Media information for a Binary file is found by clicking on Media for the Binary file. The media created is the Original File (Binary file), the FITS file (xml file) and Thumbnail (If there is one uploaded).

The Compound Object Model is metadata only. It holds together multiple objects, and those objects can have different formats. The Parent Object is then created using the Compound Object model, and the children are then associated with the parent. The children might then use different Models for example: Image model, Audio model etc.
The Compound Object model can be used when two or more objects are related to each other. For example, two images that represent the front and back of a postcard, or a spoken-word audio file and corresponding PDF transcript. In a Compound Object, there is a parent object, loaded using the Compound Object Model. The parent object consists of metadata only. (Note that the parent object metadata display will be a default display until child objects are attached). It has two or more child objects associated with it that adhere to other models. The child objects are loaded using the Model appropriate to their file types and are associated with the "parent" object. In search results, only the parent object is displayed, and clicking on the parent object displays all "child" objects associated with that parent. Relationships between parent and child objects should be managed from the parent object.
Technical Information/(Datastreams in Islandora7) for the Compound Object. The Technical Information was from the child objects found by clicking Media. The parent doesn’t have any technical information.

The Video Model, uses the Drupal Video for viewing videos.
The Video accepts: mp4, mov, wmv, avi, mts, flv, f4v, swf, mkv, webm, ogv, mpeg.
Technical Information/(Datastreams in Islandora7) for the Video is found by clicking on Media. The media created is the Original File (video file), the FITS file (xml file), the Service file (the video file that shows in the collection), and the Thumbnail of video (shows up in collection that the video is in.).

Use this comparison to help choose between the PDF (Digital Document) and Book (Paged Content and Page).
To load a PDF you would first start of course with a PDF (.pdf) file.
In order to have a PDF view properly, you would need to select text from Resource type and select Digital Document from the Model drop down menu.
Use this comparison to help choose between the Newspaper (Newspaper Model for the Newspaper itself, Publication Model for the issue and Page Model for the pages of the issues)
