FL-Islandora Guide: Theses and Dissertations

A guide for FL-Islandora users.

Introduction

We offer support for your institution's Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) program. The FL-Islandora platform enables ETD programs to provide storage, web access, and content security controls.  The local graduate school or library will need to provide additional software or mechanisms for allowing students to provide and describe their ETD.  After these have been collected you will upload a copy of the accepted final ETD along with descriptive metadata in MODS format. This can be accomplished through batch or single uploads.  Florida Library Services will host the content online, provide a persistent URL (PURL), and provide access controls.  Catalog records to load into the Aleph OPAC can be created with MarcEdit.

Starting an ETD Program?

Florida Library Services Staff are available to speak with your library and other departments on campus about starting an ETD program. Several members of the Digital Initiatives Standing Committee (DISC) are also available to talk about ETD programs at their local campus.
