Library Closures - Policies and Procedures

Library Closures

Closures or changes in operating hours due to maintenance issues or hurricanes should be reported to FLVC by emailing the Help Desk at help@flvc.org at your earliest convenience. Please include the anticipated date range for this adjustment in hours as well as any and all Alma Libraries within your institution that will be affected by this change.

Upon receipt of your submission, FLVC will update the Alma calendars of all impacted libraries at your institution.  This will automatically move any active loans that are currently due during the closed period to the next day your library is recorded as open. If your institution will be closed for more than one day, FLVC will also inactivate UBorrow lending at your institution. More information can be found on the Resource Sharing LibGuide.

The expiration date for items on your active hold shelves are not automatically updated by changes to your library calendars Alma.  However, these expiry dates can manually be updated by going to your Active Hold Shelf and clicking on "Updating Expiry."

Please note: adjustments to library hours can only be applied to the current or future dates.  If your submission is received after the affected dates, or if FLVC is unable to process your submission until after the affected dates have occurred, contact FLVC to discuss alternative options available for loans that fell due on those dates.
