Course Reserve FAQs

Course Reserve FAQs

Why aren't Course Reserves records (Citations) displaying in Primo VE?

Check if:

  • The Bibliographic record for the Citation or the Holdings record of the Item is suppressed in Alma. The records must not have the "Suppress from Discovery" management tag checked in the MDEditor. Unsuppress the bib record so it can be published to Primo VE.
  • The Course is "Active" as of today as defined by its "Start date" and "End date". If the Course is not Active, its records will not display.
  • The Citation is a "Non-Repository Citation". Non-Repository Citations are not published and will never display in Primo VE.  Use "Add Brief" or "Add Repository Citation" to add the citation instead.

Configuration

Term Dropdown Customization

The Term dropdown in a course is customizable for your needs. We can remove unneeded term descriptions or update the term descriptions for what works for you. Please send in a help desk ticket to make a change.

Processing Department Customization

The Processing Department dropdown in a course can be customized to suit your needs. While this field is purely informational for staff, adding a campus or library information can allow you to use the facets in the Course list to more easily find the courses that belong to you. Alternatively, customizing the Academic Department dropdown to add campus or library information can do the same thing and also - if you add the Academic Department facet to your Primo - would allow patrons to use their facets to find titles on reserve that are located in the most convenient library.

Academic Department Customization

The Academic Department dropdown in a course can be customized to suit your needs. This field can be used for its intended purpose - categorizing the course based on the academic department it is intended for - or it can be used to add the campus or library where the reserves for the course are held. Several institutions are using it for the latter purpose so that patrons can use the facets to find titles on reserve that are located in the most convenient library.
