The MQCS Shared Bib Remediation Task Force focuses on addressing and improving the quality of shared bibliographic records within the FLVC’s library services framework. The task force is committed to enhancing metadata quality control and ensuring the integrity of shared bibliographic information.

To protect local data when the 12 SUL catalogs merged in 2012, a subfield $5 and unique SUL organization code were added to bibliographic records in the consortium catalog. The current ILS system (Alma) places the local note in the IZ, so that the subfield $5 placed on over 12 million bibliographic records in 2012 are unnecessary and need to be removed.

In September 2023, FLVC unlinked consortia member's government documents from the NZ and overlaid the NZ records with current OCLC information, thus eliminating both errors as well as numerous $5 notes. Each institution will be responsible for determining whether to relink to the NZ or maintain the records in the IZ.
