Alma/Primo VE Release Notes

Monthly Fixes

Ex Libris made a change to the Advanced search in the Primo VE March release.  In the release notes, it’s called “Improved visibility of Search results” and it’s identified as being requested by and voted on by Ex Libris customers during the annual enhancement cycle (NERS #7265). The March release is in production now. Ex Libris’ implementation of this enhancement did not match customer expectations. Ex Libris announced on Tuesday, March 8th on the Primo discussion list that they’re making an adjustment to it in the April release. What happens now:

  1. Go to your Primo view and without entering any search terms, click on Advanced Search. The Advanced Search displays as expected.

  1. Click on Simple search and enter a search term. Then click on Advanced Search. The search area is collapsed, but can be expanded by clicking on “Search Criteria”. If you start in Advanced Search and enter a search, the search area also collapses.

Ex Libris stated on Tuesday, March 8th that they “…plan to release in April release the following behavior: when users click on the Advanced Search (even with a query), the Advanced Search form should be expanded (and not collapsed as in the March release).”
