UBorrow Guide

This guide is the beginnings of comprehensive information about UBorrow and the AlephILL client.

Adding Media for UBorrow

There are 2 basic processes involved in adding Media for UBorrow

The first process will require us to identify the collections you want to include for UBorrow loans.

If you want all items in a collection added, that's pretty straightforward, for example all items in a DVD collection.

However, if you only want certain items within that collection to be UBorrowable, we may need to work with you to come up with the best solution.  For example, if you have all DVDs in a collection, but want to exclude Children's DVDs, we may need to work with you to move Children's to a new collection, it all depends on a few other factors.

Mango identifies material as 'UBorrowable" based on:

  • Collection
  • Material Type (Currently Book and Video) for regular loan.  These videos are ones that are included with the regular loan book.
  • Whether the item can be loaned and requested.

This may allow us to easily include, or exclude certain material based on these configurations.

The second step in the process will be in adding the new media type to AlephILL.

This is a straightforward, but time-consuming step.  The overall process can take about two weeks to a month or so, depending on the speed of information flow and the amount of other ongoing projects at FLVC.
