E-Resources Management Standing Committee

This guide supports the work of E-Resource Management Standing Committee, a part of FLVC's Members Council for Library Services. Included here are a list of current members, meeting information, and supporting documents for the committee.

E-Resource Joint Task Force

Charge: To develop best practices for managing e-resource collections in Alma and create guidelines for post migration e-resource cleanup projects.

Members: Task force will have representatives from both cataloging and e-resources.

Reports to: Chair of task force will provide monthly updates to both the TSSC and ERMSC.

Task List:

  • E-Resource (Ebook, Streaming Media) Collection Management in Alma
    • Compare vendor’s metadata in CZ with MARC records and determine best practices for activating portfolios or loading MARC per vendor
    • Decide guidelines for creating local collections of MARC records
    • Determine best e-resource collection to activate for each vendor in the CZ
    • Determine guidelines for activating/cataloging single titles
    • Other additional e-resource management issues
  • Post Migration e-resource Clean up Projects
    • Removing Marc records of duplicate collections in CZ
    • Create local collections of Marc records
    • Link local collections to CZ when appropriate
    • Create and post guidelines for cleaning up migrated collections.
    • Clean up e-resources which migrated as physical items
    • Clean up ezproxy and interface names of collections
    • Other e-resource clean up projects
  • Develop communication and management best practices for E-resources in Alma
    • Develop communication best practices for working collaboratively with cataloging and e-resource staff.
    • Create guidelines and recommendations for managing e-resources in Alma
    • Share all best practice guidelines and recommendations with the TSSC and ERMSC
