Maintaining OpenAthens

• Please note setting up a new resource is a three step process:   

1) Perform Vendor Outreach - Sample Letter. Mostly vendors just need your OpenAthens Federation and Proxy Information. 

2) Add Resource to your OpenAthens Admin Catalog (https://docs.openathens.net/display/public/MD/Catalogue – if the resource is not found in your catalog, please contact EBSCO support at support@ebsco.com) 

3) Athenize the link and post wherever you need it to go.  (Use the Redirector Link Generator in OpenAthens Admin https://docs.openathens.net/display/public/MD/Redirector+link+generator)

A few notes 

• If you cannot find a particular resource within the OpenAthens Admin catalog, please contact our customer support team to facilitate its inclusion 

• I have attached a vendor contact template, which contains your OpenAthens Proxy IP address and all other Athens information that you may need when incorporating additional resources in OpenAthens 
• Please review to the vendor spreadsheet should you need to review what link syntax to use for your existing vendors. 
• If a student logs in with SSO/Personalization for the first time, they will encounter a one time consent screen.  Please have them accept the terms.  It’s the only time they will see this.  Here is an FAQ that reviews why it appears: https://connect.ebsco.com/s/article/Why-am-I-required-to-consent-to-EBSCO-s-privacy-policy-before-logging-into-my-personal-EBSCOhost-folder?language=en_US
