OpenAthens

1) The easiest way to allocate a resource is to send a case to EBSCO Support.

They will both reach out to the vendor and allocated it in your dashboard. EBSCO will need your OpenAthens Federation information and EBSCO account ID. Erin would have emailed this to you upon your GoLive and it can also be found in your dashboard or in this spreadsheet:

2) If you want to try it for yourself or just want to understand the process:

Setting up a new resource in OpenAthens is a pretty straightforward process so long as the resources is in the OpenAthens Federation.  OpenAthens has support information as well as some very short videos to guide you.  The process is summarized below. You will need your OpenAthens Federation information - Erin would have emailed this to you upon your GoLive and it can also be found in your dashboard or at this document:

If you acquire a new resource that needs to be accorded access via OpenAthens, two steps are required.

1. Allocate the resource in your OpenAthens dashboard under the "Resources" tab by selecting it from the master resource catalogue. If the resources isn't in the catalog, it is easiest to have EBSO do it for you.  When you allocate it, it will ask you to assign it to a permission set. For most sites, there will only be one permissions set (Default Permissions Set) - exceptions would be if you have created a permission set to restrict resource access to a subset of users. 

2. The vendor must be contacted to set up SAML access to that resource by emailing the vendor with verbiage similar to the following (Example is from TCC) with your information from the OpenAthens Federation Information Spreadsheet:

I would like to access my subscription using your SAML login option.

If you are not a member of the OpenAthens Federation, please add the OpenAthens IP to our profile while not removing any existing IPs.
