OpenAthens Accounts

There are several types of OpenAthens user accounts.

1. Florida Virtual Campus accounts are created when a user at your institution logs into a resource via the campus SSO for the first time. Account creation populates the account with the attributes specified in your attribute configuration.  These accounts expire after 365 days of inactivity.

2. Personal accounts are created in the OpenAthens dashboard and exist outside the campus SSO.  The credentials that accompany them can login to eResources and install an OpenAthens browser token for that institution by logging in at the MyAthens Portal Page.

3. Access accounts are like Personal accounts, but they are tied to a specific IP range.  This restricts their use to specified locations.  Access accounts are generally used to create guest access for walk-in users and they also authenticate via the MyAthens Portal Page.

You can search your user accounts by using the search bar at the top of your OpenAthens dashboard.
